Albany no longer stands in the shadow of New York City’s gay scene! This capital city has a lot to offer the gay community, and is becoming increasingly more LGBT-populated as time passes. It was even home to one of the first transgender organizations- a fun fact that we applaud!

Most of the gay nightlife is located around the Downtown area of the city. Waterworks Pub is an original Albany pub, and along with the club Rocks offers themed dance parties on a regular basis. Lark Street and Center Square is a great area to check out, with many gay owned and operated businesses, shops, and eateries.

Albany is home to Capital Pride, the gay pride parade and festival that happens every June. A variety of events over the course of a weekend celebrate the LGBT community of Albany. The festivities culminate in a parade that is not to be missed. Whether you are in town for Capital Pride or any other time of the year, Albany is a gem of a city to of wonderful people and hidden treasures!
