Unlike major metropolitan cities like Sydney and Melbourne, there are no designated gay bars in Alice Springs.  You may expect this dusty desert town to be struggling for nightlife entertainment, but think again.

Once the sun sets the town becomes quite a lively scene with people ranging from the young clubbers to middle aged people who are transplants from the cities.

There’s a range of watering holes from outback pubs to places more suited to classy city folks.

No visit would be complete without stopping by Chateau Hornsby Winery, the Northern Territory’s first and only winery and vineyard.  Stick around for a bite at the winery restaurant or for something truly different try a bush barbecue under the stars using a camp oven kitchen.

If you are looking specifically for gay or lesbian bars, you’ll have to venture to nearby Darwin or Adelaide.
