This is New York City, after all, the home to Broadway. The Great White Way, filled with bright lights and big dreams, the most illuminated place on the planet. I have never been one to go see a show, usually finding it difficult to sit through it all without fidgeting up a distraction. I like my shows exciting, interactive and engaging – the last one I truly enjoyed was Avenue Q, which was certainly aided by the painkillers filling in the hole where my wisdom teeth once were. - read more

Moments after arriving in Whistler, Canada, I find myself walking down the main drag in a harness, with straps dangling and my crotch scrunched up in a tidy triangle. Moving up the island of Manhattan, I take quick peeks from two of the tallest points on the island: the Top of the Rock and the Empire State Building. The naked truth is, however, that all Americans are just secretly jealous of Canada. Right? Why wouldn’t we be? As a society, they actually treat their citizens as human beings, with robust health care, gay marriage, partner rights for immigrant couples, and much more reasonable national priorities that put people and services before bombs and defense. - read more

Washington, DC’s Union Station gives quite the welcome: Vaulted ceilings soar above, creating colossal curved archways that add an air of infinity 96 feet above me. Marble, white granite and gold leaf accents mark each surface, shining brilliantly, suggesting that this is indeed, the greatest country on Earth. It’s a grand entrance, unlike any that I have ever experienced before. - read more

Vermont is a rarity in America today: A state with hyper-accessible leaders that are dedicated to working together to build the best state possible. People are passionate about their state in ways that you don’t normally see outside of Texas, and the passion is derives less from patriotism but more from a true belief in a government of the people, for the people. - read more
