Our first activity of the day was three hours of snorkeling at Koh Hong Island, which is supposed to be one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. As soon as we got there, the visibility was not very good, but as the day went by it got better and better. Just getting to the island was a whole experience in and of itself- on local fisherman long tail boat fromthe Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Phulay Bay. 30 minutes and many stunning views later, we got there to be mesmerized by the beauty of this island in waters of the Andaman Sea.
We were greeted by clear green water, the perfect temperature, and white powder sand all surrounded by the Than Bok Khorani National Park. There was coral reef and lots of fish that, to be honest, I have no idea the names of- but all looked and felt amazing! Needless to say I am paying my dues of having spent the whole day under the sun.
The only way to access to Koh Hong is by boat, thus there are seldom people visiting this area which makes it even more special. Since it is part of a National Park, there is a FEE of TBH 200 (approx. USD 7) per person to use the public services which include toilets and a small improvised restaurant. Around 12,30 our sailor gathered us and told us we were leaving because he wanted to share something special with us. So we jumped into the long tail boat full of excitement, wondering what could be even more beautiful than this beach. He took us to the HONG. But this is for my next post.
