Gay Travel Approved: The Mosaic Beverly Hills

After a nearly four hour traffic-ridden drive from San Diego to Beverly Hills, I couldn’t wait to just get to the hotel, check in and check out! Once we finally arrived at The Mosaic we quickly parked in the oh-so-convenient garage and proceeded inside. I knew the popular boutique property would be nice, but once you step in the door it really hits. You’ve arrived, Beverly Hills style. The front desk is located steps from the front door and opens up to a quaint lobby area, the hotel’s restaurant and its very posh cocktail lounge. This simple effect invites you in and offers a sophisticated yet relaxed feel. I felt right at home. After helping myself to a glass of chilled cucumber and lemon infused water at check-in I only made it a few steps before I was greeting by the hotel manager. She stuck out her hand to welcome me and my guests to the property.  After our welcome we quickly grabbed the bellman’s cart and rushed back out to get our bags. We were offered help but with four gay men and their luggage it was just less embarrassing to do it ourselves, especially since they know we were only checking in for two nights!

When the door of the elevator opened at the 4th floor I was in love, the colors were in perfect compliment and the doors were adorned with a knocker style lion’s head, these are all important things to the gay interior design major in me. One of the best things about boutique properties is the size - we were in our room just moments after stepping off the elevator. I love that! As we entered the room, I instantly started to check out the goods, it had a large flat screen television, beautiful wood shutters, soft luxurious beds, amazing furnishings, and a nicely stocked mini-bar. The bathroom was spacious with french doors that opened out, granite everywhere and can it be??? Bvlgari bath products, Heaven!

After whipping up a cocktail from the mini bar selections, we put our faces on and headed down to explore. Our first stop was the pool which was perfection! There were cabana style table settings, large chaise lounges, and lush green landscaping that surrounded the area. The landscape even received the stamp of approval from my friend Brett, who is the pickiest landscape architect in the San Diego metropolitan area.

While headed back through the lobby we noticed that the hotel was having its Holiday Party in the lounge area. Being the nosey person that I am, I lagged behind to check things out. Judging by the smiles and the way they treated one another, I could tell that the staff was really a happy caring team. I even “overheard” a speech given by the staff to their manager about how much they appreciated her. I really like what I heard, it seemed like a tight group.

The next day, it was time to shop and I have to say that this property is a shopper’s dream location! Without ever getting in the car you can take a casual stroll to the Beverly Hills shopping district of Rodeo Drive. We dined and shopped until our credit cards stopped working then walked our goods back to the hotel, Pretty Woman style!  For those looking for the more luxurious approach The Mosaic offers a free car service that will take you anywhere within the Beverly Hills triangle, incredible!

I could go on and on about our experience at The Mosaic, but you really just have to see it for yourself. It’s a property that is sure not to disappoint.
