LOS ANGELES Last Summer at Bluefish Cove

Last Summer at the Bluefish Cove is a journey through friendship and love that will make you laugh, cry and reflect on what is truly important in your life. The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Project is putting this production on as one of the many opportunities they spearhead for women in the arts. They hope to empower women using the vehicle of performance, as well as foster strong and supportive communities both on stage and off. This production in particular is especially colorful, for it is sheds light on the intricacies of a lesbian relationship and friendships in general. Do a little self-reflection in style at this thought-provoking production!

LONDON Gay Wise Festival

London’s premier LGBT cross-arts festival, GFEST is a platform for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and queer artists, organizations and venues to promote LGBT and queer arts. A full calendar of events and artistic happenings offer something for arts lovers of every kind, so be sure to check this festival out! Organized by arts charity Wise Thoughts, GFEST features established alongside fresh or young LGBT artists and queer talent across the arts. Visual arts, theatre, dance and performance, LGBT short films, debates, workshops and parties are all venues through which support for the queer arts movement in London is expressed. GFEST takes place annually in November in various venues across London, a city teaming with up-and-coming artists from all across the rainbow spectrum!

PHILADELPHIA Cabaret Crime

This original production is written, composed, and performed by a group of extremely talented performers of our time. The show puts an interesting twist on a traditional style of performance art: the Cabaret! The rich arts community in Philadelphia helped spawn the interest in and support behind this production, and the efforts that have been put into it to bring it to the forefront definitely show. Ticket sales benefit the William Way LGBT Community Center and the Attic Youth Center, so come out to support the cause!  

PRAGUE Mezipatra Queer Film Festival

The Mezipatra Queer Film Festival features around a hundred top-ranking films on lesbian, bisexual, transsexual and queer themes in an international competition. The festival includes exhibitions, lectures, workshops, discussions, parties, over 85 000 viewers, and ten different cities in the Czech Republic. The festival aims to bring world-class cinema to as large and diverse of an audience as possible. It draws attention to the inseparability of the private and the public, as well as the individual and society. Offering a balanced portrayal of people who are generally depicted in mainstream culture and media in terms of stereotype and cliché is an important cause for the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival, for this is truly a festival by the people and for the people- queer people, that is!

LONDON Homotopia

Homotopia 2011 will take place at various venues across Liverpool from 1st-30th November. This year’s festival theme is ‘Cruising For Art’ which will showcase an array of the queer, the bold, the unexpected and the daring. This city has a rich and vibrant history, which makes it a hotspot for quirky and controversial artistic statements. A celebration of 21st century LGBT/Q life in all its extravagant, confusing and dynamic diversity, Homotopia presents an eclectic program including some new commissions, festival firsts & World Premieres. Over 30 events from visual art, theatre, film, debate, dance, literature and live art will set Liverpool alight; come join the fun!
