Time to give thanks
So it’s the time for giving thanks, but we’ve still got a lot to work for: DOMA remains a disgrace, DADT is an insult to the proud gay members of our military, and the elections in California and Maine have done damage to more than just the marriages they tore apart. That said, we’ve definitely got a lot to be thankful for, and I’d like to lead the shout outs!
I’m thankful for every person who voted against hatred in Maine and California. Every voice counts!
I’m thankful for the Episcopalian Church for allowing openly gay bishops and showing the world that hate and religion are not always synonymous.
I’m thankful for the US Congress writing a bill that makes benefits for same-sex partners tax free.
I’m thankful to Adam Lambert for pushing the boundaries of equality in entertainment. And for making the AMA’s more entertaining.
I’m thankful for Will Phillips showing us that equal rights are obvious even to a child.
I’m thankful to everyone who smiles when they see a gay couple holding hands in public.
And most of all, I’m thankful for all my friends and family, gay and straight, who accept me for who I am! Happy Thanksgiving!
