Will Orlando be home to the 2018 Gay Games?

For years gay travelers have been flocking to Central Florida without any official bureau to guide them along the way. That is changing this month. At a news conference on March 14, 2012 Converge Orlando, Inc., a new conventions and visitors bureau that aims to attract LGBT tourist to Orlando, made major announcements.
With a promotional video and backed by city and tourism leaders Mikael Frank Audebert, Executive Director of Converge Orlando announced that Orlando is in the running for the 2018 Gay Games, a well-attended sporting event that takes place every four years and draws thousands of athletes and visitors.
"We've estimated over 200,000 attendees over a 7 to 10-day period. We are going to work with the entire region to make this happen because this is about building an event that people feel they are coming to for a reason," said Audebert.
