Saving Face by Stuffing Your Face
In China, when someone invites you out to a meal, he or she is essentially putting his or her entire reputation on the line. That is, if there isn’t enough food, then they “lose face,” meaning their pride is tarnished. This evening, in response to this fear, my host ordered enough food to feed a majority of Southeast Asia. While there were ten of us at dinner, that certainly did not constitute ordering nearly fifteen pounds of meat, vegetables, tofu, soup for all, potato bread, more tofu, green peppers, eggplant, and more tofu. - read more

Facing the H8
Last week our Travel Liason, Whitney Wagner, had the opportunity to go see a free screening of “8: The Mormon Proposition”, a documentary critics are calling one of the most emotional and well-crafted documentaries of the last decade. The film exposes the Mormon Church's involvement in the passage of California's Proposition 8 and the Latter-Day Saints’ active participation in the campaign against equal rights of homosexuals. Copenhagen: the future of equality, women’s rights, and never locking the door
Welcome to the future, where the people are quiet, litter is nonexistent, houses are made of glass, and daily items are exorbitantly expensive. Is America’s First Gay Travel Guru in Boystown? Gaytravel.com Arrives In Chicago
It’s All in the Name Boystown was an ideal stop on our search for the first Gay Travel Guru. With a population of more than 800,000 LGBT residents, Boystown was the first community labeled a “gay village” in North America. With many bars open until 5 am on the weekends, there‘s always a good time somewhere to be found in Boystown. During the day, my travel buddy Tommy and I enjoyed scoping out the numerous boutiques, restaurants and historic architecture that line this gayborhood. - read more

But SoHo also represents the mainstream, Britney Spears, sparkly signs, pole dancers, and tight t-shirts. If you’re not so much into that, or just looking for something a little more underground, East London is SO where it’s at. - read more
