• LGBT Scene in Columbus

Columbus

Clintonville is a popular neighborhood for lesbians, so there is always great nightlife and people watching here. Short North hosts an annual gay and lesbian theater festival in September. There are also various arts and food festivals throughout the year in Columbus.

The highlight of Columbus gay festivities is Columbus Gay Pride though! Progressive people in this progressive town come together to celebrate the life and gays and lesbians in mid- to late- June during Columbus Pride. The celebration includes club events, a Unity Picnic, a golf classic, an art show and a 5K run/walk.

Gay marriage is out of the question for now in Ohio, where attitudes about gays and lesbians tend to still be conservative. But Columbus, thanks in part to the gay scene and the large student population, has a more liberal attitude than many other Midwest cities, which makes it a great place to visit no matter what the occasion!
