Sharon Hupprich, Owner and President and Carlene La Place, Manager
After escaping the cold Boston winters in 1981, Sharon started her career as a vacation specialist, and then expanded into sales, specializing in high end properties. Sharon was a sales agent, broker, then sales manager of a real estate company from 1985 to early 1996 when the owner retired and closed the company. So, Sharon turned lemons into lemonade and opened CALYPSO REALTY on March 1, 1996 in a charming small office suite with French doors and windows at the corner of Havensight Way in the bustling port area of Havensight. In November 2013 wanting a bigger office and more parking, Calypso Realty moved just one building up and now has 1200 square feet on beautiful light bright space and an enormous private parking area. The office is within sight and sound of the cruise ships that tie up each day.
Since St. Thomas is a small tropical island (34 square miles of verdant hills and sandy and rocky coastline) we handle the full spectrum of real estate from the sale of land and condos to million dollar + estates and retail opportunities such as boutiques, restaurants, businesses and leaseholds. Completing the full service real estate business are the leasing of short term vacation villas & condos and long term (one year+) of condos and luxury homes. Sharon absolutely loves the business of real estate and it shows! She will search every inch of the island to assist you in your quest for your island home or business!
Carlene La Place is the overall manager of Calypso Realty and is Sharon’s licensed sales assistant. Carlene moved to paradise from Oregon in 2000 and after working in two other well-respected real estate firms, Calypso Realty was fortunate to have Carlene join us in November 2008. Carlene ably manages the Property Management division with vacation rentals and long term leasing. Carlene passed her real estate sales exam in October 2008 so she also assists Sharon’s clients and customers with real estate services. Carlene lives on the east end of St. Thomas with her husband, Andy LaPlace, a native Virgin Islander. Andy is the manager of Cowpet Bay East Condominium Association, which is next to the Ritz Carlton Hotel. In their precious spare time they enjoying boating and fishing and activities with their extended LaPlace family!
