There is a refreshing contrast between the Ancient City and modern metropolis, though the city sat dormant for hundreds of years. Just a sleepy fishing village until the 1960s, Bodrum’s “boom” has been met with mixed reactions - those who are happy to find modern comforts and those who miss it’s now waining traditional feel. Fortunately, with local fishing villages surrounding Bodrum in every direction, it’s possible - and recommended - to get a taste of both!
