LGBT Scene in Hong Kong
As seemingly expected, the gay scene evolves around the western restaurant and bar districts of Soho (short for “south of Hollywood road”) and Lan Kwai Fong on Hong Kong Island. While there are very few exclusively gay bars and clubs, many have weekly gay happy hours and the scene remains open and mixed every night.
While there is no official gay beach in Hong Kong, there are several that have become very popular with gay travelers.
Middle Bay Beach - This beach is does not have direct access by way of public transportation and can only be reached by taxi or by walking from nearby Repulse Bay. This small beach is found on Hong Kong Island and is the most popular gay beach in Hong Kong and draws a large crowd of local and visitors alike.
South Bay Beach - South of Middle Bay Beach, this beach area is small and less crowded than Middle Bay. The gay section is located on the left hand side of the beach.
Cheung Sha Beach - One of Hong Kong's longest and most beautiful beaches, Cheung Sha Beach is located on the south coast of Lantau Island. The beach is split into two sections by a rocky terrain and gay locals and visitors typically occupy the area nearest the rocks.
