Ah, The Big Apple, truly a Gaytravel favorite. Gay New York is home is millions of people, the hustle and bustle of the big city life is truly exhilarating. On every street and at every intersection you’ll find people zooming here and there with a strong sense of purpose. There are a sea of yellow taxi cabs on every street corner which turn out to be the best way to get around the city. Need to go somewhere? Simply raise your hand and 5 seconds later you’re in a taxi an on your way to your destination. To some travelers the big city is very intimidating, to others the pace is amazing and highly exhilarating. Emotional overwhelm is all part of the whole Manhattan experience, so take up confidence and inhale the sensory overload of the Big Apple as it is truly a place like no other. New York is the self-proclaimed center of it all, it is the biggest city in the entire nation! Things happen in New York whether you are there to see them or not, this is truly the city that never sleeps, there is something always going on somewhere.
There is no shortage of things to do in the big apple, from landmarks and sightseeing to Broadway musicals. You can simply never run out of things to do an experience here, it is truly the center of sensory overload. If you want to learn more about history then take a tour of the Museum of Metropolitan Art or if you want to view the finest art in the world take a visit to the Museum of Modern Art. Want to see the statue of liberty? Take a 20 minute ferry and even get a chance to go inside and walk to the top!
Looking for things to eat? On every street corner you’ll find a shop with new interesting and delicious foods. If you stayed here for a year you still wouldn’t even be able to scratch the surface of what Manhattan food has to offer. Don’t forget that a New York pizza is a must-try for any first timers in New York, you really don’t want to leave without trying this.
There are five different boroughs in New York, Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Manhattan. Each of these areas has its own unique taste and appeal, enticing different types of travelers to each of the boroughs. You can easily move between the boroughs with New York’s excellent subway system that traverses the entire underground of the Big Apple. You can find buses that run up until 11pm, if you are looking for transportation afterwards you can find gypsy buses that run off the grid after hours. There are even Gay bus tours in New York!
Dress accordingly, the summers here can be brutal and the winters just as cold. In the summer you’ll find people dressed in tank tops and spaghetti straps, during the winter you’ll find layers upon layers of jackets and winter clothing. The best season to visit would be in the spring which lies in-between the extremes of hot and cold, providing you with gorgeous temperate weather.
