Gay Philadelphia

Ah, Gay Philadelphia. Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania and is considered the cradle of our democracy. Our travel guide will first give you a brief history lesson -  it’s the birthplace of “life, love, and pursuit of happiness.” As a commercial, educational, and cultural center, the city was once the social and geographical center of the original 13 American colonies. Ben Franklin took a large role in Philadelphia’s early rise to prominence. It was in this city that many of the ideas, and subsequent actions, gave birth to the American Revolution and American Independence, making Philadelphia a centerpiece of early American history. A wonderful city for any history buff, Independence National Historic Park is a must-see.

Philadelphia’s neighborhoods are divided into large sections - North, Northeast, Northwest, West, South and Southwest Philadelphia - all of which surround Center City. Philadelphia has more public art than any other American city. The city’s major art museum, the Philadelphia Art Museum, is one of the largest art museums in the United States. The Avenue of the Arts in Center City contains many restaurants and theaters, and areas such as South Street and Old City have a vibrant night life. For the food, the city is known for its hoagies, scrapple, soft pretzels, water ice, Tastykake, and is home to the cheesesteak. This place has plenty of places to eat for the food-savvy travelers and doesn’t disappoint. Most hotels and B&B’s are very gay friendly.
