Shore Club
Designed by famed British architect David Chipperfield, with landscaping inspired by the rich Matisse-like palette of the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, Shore Club shimmers with intrigue and sensuality. The hotel leads South Beach’s social scene with Sunday pool parties, headlining acts at Red Room and late night gatherings. The vibrant atmosphere in the landmarked Art Deco lobby leads to a labyrinth of gardens, where secret passageways, alcoves and a succession of outdoor ‘rooms’ conspire to create an atmosphere of unexpected encounters and close interaction. Anchored by the original polished terrazzo floor, the elegant furnishings are an eclectic mix evocative of global marketplaces—including relaxed sofas, tufted floor cushions, hand-woven tribal rugs and large patterned throw pillows from Kenya that invite mixing and mingling. The vibe is lively, the atmosphere intimate, the feeling electric.
Overview
Shore Club’s two elevated infinity edge pools are among South Beach’s supreme hotspots. Surrounded by enormous custom tufted beds, ranging from 12x12 feet to 30x4 feet, these relaxed lounging areas are covered in hand-painted pillows and large painted throws, all by artists Izhar Patkin and Kim MacConnel. The beach is easily accessed directly from the pools and there’s no cooler locale from which to keep an eye on the scene.
A drink is always close at hand. Centrally located between the pools and surrounded by white sheer curtains, Rumbar offers 75 different rums in an intimate space draped by potted climber plants. Off one of the pools is Sandbar, which, in its own private setting, lends itself to smaller private parties.
