I can honestly say that I can’t wait to go back to the Hyatt Regency Palm Springs next time I’m in town. First, a big THANK YOU to Ms. Dael Strange (Director of Sales) and front desk staffers Joanne and Ian who made my time on site a delight. With my Hilton allegiance already out in the open on this blog, I admit that I didn’t know quite what to expect as I haven’t stayed at as many Hyatt properties.

The Hyatt Palm Springs immediately exceeded my expectations upon arrival. In December of 2009, a $15 million renovation to was completed on its 197 room, all-suite property. The hotel features a cavernously chic, bright lobby, the new SHARE Wine Lounge lobby bar., a hip bar, new pool deck, fire pits and a 24-hour fitness center.

My lady friend and I were graciously put up in Suite #105 [606-square-feet] which boasts an outdoor front entrance on the ground floor, in addition to the back terrace glass door which slides open from your living room out into a furnished private, luxury, poolside cabana.

Joanne at the Hyatt’s front desk was comfortable and candid while checking in a tandem of two female guests and quickly disarmed with charm and grace any awkward “one-bed-or-two moment” we Gay Travelers all know and dread.

They Hyatt suite also included a refrigerator standard [thank the Dinah gods!], a large, bright parlor (separate from the bedroom), stylish and clean design, two 42-inch flat screens, free T-Mobile wireless, an iPod dock, and a tube of toothpaste(!). In addition to all this, I very much enjoyed the Portico white ginger bath products, but the real star of for me was the Hyatt Grand pillow-top bed (which, evidently, you can enjoy in your own home for a cool $1,549). There is only one word to describe my sleep at the Hyatt: rocklike.

The entire Hyatt experience was delightful. The location could not be more centralized on the strip. The only minor demerit: No business desk workspace in cabana suite.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a sexy stay, plenty of R&R by the pool, sunshine and suite style, you’ll be right at home, well-rested and bronzed after your stay at the Hyatt Regency Suites, Palm Springs.
