The French know a few things about food, fun and fantasy. The islands are exotic. The beaches are secluded, the water translucent, and the experience decidedly joie de vivre.

When you board the tall ship Mandalay, you are part of a dreamscape where nature is your only guide and the only constant is freedom. You will find yourself anchored off deserted beaches and docked in small charming harbors. Dining at French cafes, and watching movies projected on moonlit sails. Dancing to a marvelously eclectic mix of music and diving into a sea of friendly and curious fish.

It doesn't get any better than this!

Your Ship
This 236-foot Barquentine was built in 1932 for financier E.F. Hutton and christened HUSSAR. Later she was put into service by Columbia University sailing over 1 1/4 million miles worldwide. Evidence gathered on her voyages confirmed the theory of continental drift.

Ship Features:

  • Cabins with A/C and private bathrooms
  • Open-air sundeck with covered seating and lounge areas
  • Laid-back, anything-goes atmosphere
  • Romance & history of tall-ship sailing

Possible Ports of Call

Antigua
With 365 idyllic beaches, Antigua is a water sports mecca. After touring Antigua, join us for a post cruise stay at the Hawksbill Beach Resort which features private access to the only official nude beach in Antigua.

Saba
The island shoots 800 feet straight out of the sea, girdled by a sheer wall of rock. Saba's "Stairwell" hikes are famous. One such hike scales 1,064 stone steps to the crest of Mount Scenery at 2,855 feet.

Nevis
Almost completely circular, Nevis' green slopes rise in sweeping curves to the central and only summit. Charlestown is a well-preserved village: plantation states and eighteenth century buildings decorated with gingerbread trim tell the story of a bygone era. An interesting zoning law states that no buldings may be taller than the palm trees. We love that!

St. Barts
St. Barts became a favorite retreat for the rich and famous in the 1980's. French food, wine, fashion and all the things imported grace the landscape. St. Barts is a quintessentially celebrity island. The world-famous Saline Beach is clothing-optional with a gay area and great bodysurfing.

Tintamarre
A deserted island to yourself? We found the ideal setting for our private lunch and ativities. This beautiful beach has been molded into a perfect crescent shape by eons of caressing waves.

St. Maarten / St Martin
Home to two sovereign nations. Cross the invisible border from the Dutch to the French side where you can dine at quaint bistros or enjoy nude sunbathing at world-famous Orient Beach.
