Join
our group of gay and lesbian travelers as we experience the exciting
ports of the Mediterranean !
We'll start our
cruise in wondrous Venice, Italy. A must do excursion includes Venice’s
famed, romantic gondola rides past Gothic-Renaissance palaces lining the
city's waterways. See the golden mosaics and bronze horses of the
900-year-old St. Mark's Basilica. Take a ferry ride to nearby Murano,
the center of Venetian glassmaking.
From Venice we’ll
cruise to our first port of call, Dubrovnik, Croatia. Founded some
1,300 years ago, the walled medieval city of Dubrovnik rests on the
Dalmation Coast. A walk down the cobblestone streets of the beautifully
preserved old town, Stari Grad, reveals marble-paved squares,
monasteries and fountains, all standing as they did centuries ago.
We’ll
cruise onward to the lovely Greek Islands. Piraeus (Athens), Greece is
the main port for Athens, Greece and will be your starting point for
excursions to this classic city. See the Acropolis, an archeological
masterpiece that dates back to the fifth century BC. In nearby Cape
Sounion, you can investigate the Temple of Poseidon built between 444
and 440 BC. Luncheon in the heart of the gentle Argolid Hills before a
tour of Epidaurus and its remarkably well-preserved theater dating back
to the fourth century BC.

From
Piraeus we’ll wander on to Santorini, Greece. Whitewashed homes and
windmills cling to the hillsides of Santorini, a photogenic Greek
island. Visit ancient Akrotiri-believed by some to be part of the
lost island of Atlantis- and explore the cobbled streets of Fira,
lined with inviting shops and eateries. Settle into a quaint
restaurant and enjoy a glass of wine with a selection of Greek
delicacies.
Our
next stop gives us the opportunity to visit one of our favorite
ruins, Pompeii. We’ll arrive in the port of Naples, Italy. Photo
opportunities abound in the splendid portside city of Naples:
Mergellina, the 17th-century Royal Palace and Posillipo Hill, to
name a few. While in port you will have an opportunity to explore
the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Or, you may decide to take the
hydrofoil for a romantic lunch on the lovely island of Capri. You
also won't want to miss a tour of the Cameo factory on the way to
the holiday resort of Amalfi.
From
Naples we’ll travel on to Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy. After a ride
through the lovely Etruscan countryside, you'll be in Rome. With so
many perfect places to steal a kiss, this city is a haven for
smitten couples. And there are plenty of things to do hand-in-hand
-- visit the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, even Vatican City. Be
sure to venture over to see St. Peter's Basilica, a cathedral full
of works by Bramante, Michelangelo, Raphael and Bernini.
|
|

From
Civitavecchia, well rested and relaxed, we’ll cruise to Livorno
(Florence/Pisa) Italy. Take a tour from Livorno to Pisa and find
out why the infamous Leaning Tower is tilted. Florence offers the
architecturally elaborate buildings of Cathedral Square and the
Church of Santa Croce where Michelangelo, Machiavelli and Galilieo
are entombed. You may also choose to visit one of the celebrated
museums in this Renaissance city. A visit to Tuscany will take you
through the wine country and allow you to sample your own glass of
wine.
Oh
but our trip would not be complete without a stop in Villefranche,
(Nice), France. Take the scenic drive from Villefranche-sur-Mer and
experience the elegance and grandeur of the Casino in Monte Carlo.
This famous landmark was founded in 1861 and is still a renowned
gaming hall today. Take a drive along the fashionable Côte d'Azur to
Grand Corniche, Èze and Monaco. You may choose to visit a perfume
factory in Grasse, or perhaps you would like to see where the rich
and famous play in the seaside town of Cannes.
Our
delightful Mediterranean Medley ends in the wonderful city of
Barcelona, Spain. Plan to stay an extra day to take a
sightseeing tour - the best way to see Barcelona's blend of
ancient and modern architecture. You will also relish an opportunity
to take a tour dedicated to Barcelona's most famous architect,
Antonio Gaudi. See the Cathedral of the Sagrada Família, Gaudi's
best known creation. A tour of Barcelona will not be complete
without a visit to the stadium, the site of the 1992 Olympics.
This cruise holiday will find
us sailing of the incomparable Celebrity Millennium. From the
Grand Foyer to The RMS Olympic specialty restaurant,
Millennium is a splendid vessel. Luxury shows in every
detail on every deck-- in wood and marble, etched glass and
polished granite. The designers of Millennium know the
importance of getting away from it all, on and off the ship. The
Library and Card rooms were created especially as "escapes"
where you can learn about your upcoming destination, or simply
daydream to your favorite music. Select a book on the history of
your destination from a two-story library. On the first floor
you will find volumes in English; on the second, books in other
languages. Or you can choose the card room -- a quiet nook and
the perfect place to meet friends for board games or bridge.
Escape to thousands of digital music recordings in this music
library at sea. This Celebrity exclusive features private
state-of-the-art listening stations with unbelievable sound.
Choose an aria or some foot-tapping jazz.
