Established in 1972 in the heart of Mount Vernon, the Hippo has been a cornerstone in the gay and lesbian community in Baltimore, and greeting all those who love and support us.  Our motto “Where everyone is welcome” stands true to this day.  Whether you want to dance the night away, relax in our video bar, or enjoy a cocktail and a pool game in our saloon, we have something to suit everyone’s mood!
