Planning a road trip? Here are some hints to help you get the most out of the pump. Buy gas early in the morning, not in the afternoon: gas expands when it's hot out, so get up a little earlier to fill up and save a few cents – every little bit helps. Get an oil change: your car will run better and ultimately save you money when you keep up on maintenance. Headed for a relaxing trip? Why not drive at night? It's definitely cooler, and you can relax during the day – and work on that tan!

Southern Charm

Belle Meade PlantationBelle Meade Plantation
Belle Meade, meaning "beautiful meadow" was founded in 1807 by John Harding and his wife Susannah in Nashville, TN. This stunning Greek Revival Plantation grew from a log cabin and 250 acres of land into a massive Thoroughbred horse breeding farm that covered 5400 acres.

One-hour tours of the 1853 Greek Revival Mansion are conducted daily by period costumed interpreters and tales are told about the four generations (1807 – 1903) of the Harding and Jackson families that resided at Belle Meade Plantation. The tour describes the family prosperous rise in the lavish world of Thoroughbreds as well as their untimely bankruptcy, all the while telling the story of how both Nashville and the South evolved.
