Puerto Vallarta is a great place to be gay. You can be naughty, and stay up all night, or relax in the shade and sip margaritas. There’s a little bit of everything here, and as such, it has become a go-to destination for groups of gays coming from all over.
The center of the daytime action lies at the end of Playa Los Muertos, centered in front of the Blue Chairs Resort. Keep walking until you see the clusters of men in Speedos sitting on blue chairs or lounging on the beach. On crowded days, the gays spill over into the adjacent green chairs of Ritmos Beach Café, and it is quite the scene as booze and beach merge into a full-on party.
Blue Chairs Resort, directly behind the beach bar, also has a rooftop bar offering the best sunsets in town –and a hilarious drag show on Sunday evenings. The rest of the nightlife is peppered around the Old Town, with Olas Altas’ sidewalk cafés offering a great start to any night. Mañana is one of the most memorable gay bars in the world, with a dance floor adjacent to a swimming pool outdoors! Like most places in Latin America, nightlife only gets going around midnight and most places peak around 2pm. Latin Fever is contagious, so pace yourself, it’s going to be a long week!
