Because Riviera Maya leans more towards a resort-style destination, there is not a major “Gay Scene,” though this isn’t a destination you’d pick if you were after all-night shirtless raves.  Of course that doesn’t mean you can’t escape to Cancun for an evening.  Still, there are many gay travelers in Riviera Maya, as resorts have made a conscious effort to target the gay community.  In short, you won’t be short of gays and lesbians here.
