If you've ever dreamed of going on safari in Africa I hope you'll join me for what I believe is the best safari in all of East Africa. This safari is a great mix of wildlife, scenery and cultures. I've been developing and running trips to Kenya for many years and would now, as a gay man, like to offer my trips to the gay & lesbian communities. I've worked with the lodge managers, driver/guides and local airway officials and they are all anxious to host you. I guarantee you'll have a terrific time. You'll experience the very best this amazing country has to offer. You'll experience the vibrant city of Nairobi, herds of elephants in Amboseli National Park, see the great rift valley and Lake Nakruru National Park, see the mountain forrest ecosystem at a wonderful lodge on a flood-lit mineral lick located at 7,200 feet in elevation within Mount Keny National Park, the unique wildlife in breath-taking Samburu National Reserve, the grassland savannah and abundant wildlife as well as the great migration of wildebeests in the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and the white sand beaches of the Kenyan coast. This really is a once in a lifetime journey. With five internal air flights you will be spending most of your time in the parks and reserves and not endless hours in vehicles driving from place to place. And, the accommodations are excellent. I hope you'll come along.
© 2013

Bike along the ancient Appian Way and lightly traveled roads through countryside that reflects centuries of pilgrims, soldiers and other travelers. Stay in a villa that has stood since the 14th century, and which has been restored to its ancient splendor by American with deep family roots in the soil of Puglia.

During our week in Puglia, we’ll have five biking days, each a little longer and more strenuous than the one before it. On our first riding day we’ll head over to the nearby village of Terlizzi to meet our neighbors, and perhaps sample a bit of the local cuisine. We’ll ride on to Sovereto, once a medieval sanctuary of the Knights Templar. We ride a little farther the next two days to the former necropolis of Ruvo di Puglia and the Adriatic port of Giovinazzo.

Mid-week we have a rest day from biking and take a mini-bus to the Basilicata region, where we will explore the hill town of Matera, with its winding streets and cave dwellings. We finish the week with rides to the National Park of La Murgia and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Castel del Monte, a castle perched on a hill.

Each day we enjoy the food and wine of the region at our villa and at restaurants in Terlizzi and around the area.

No geologic feature in America inspires the imagination as does the Grand Canyon. A mile deep, up to eighteen miles wide, and slashing through 2 billion years of rock, the Canyon is viewed from above by millions of visitors each year—but far fewer travel into its depths.

Our rafting trip carries us down the entire 280 miles of the Colorado River, through a hundred whitewater rapids, with a motor to keep us moving so we can relax and enjoy the changing spectacle above us. By day, when we’re not river running you’ll explore the hidden side canyons, hiking among rock sculptures of every color—black, red, blue, and white—and enjoying numerous waterfalls and swimming holes. In the evening, socialize over a tasty dinner as you socialize with others in our small group—just 14 of us, plus two guides. By night, sleep under a canopy of stars, as the river continues its journey of the ages.

Starting in Tucson, we’ll tour the city to get a bit of local color while getting used to our bikes, and then enjoy a welcome dinner. The next day we’ll make our way south through historic and Mexican-flavored neighborhoods before entering the San Xavier Indian Reservation. We’ll stop at the magnificent Mission San Xavier del Bac, founded in 1700 by Father Kino. From the mission we’ll pedal through the Indian village of Bac, with its picturesque graveyard, and then plunge into the stark and sometimes startling landscape of the Sonoran desert on quiet Mission Road.

Our route follows the beautiful Santa Cruz River, a linear oasis in the desert. From the artists’ village of Tubac (Arizona’s oldest town) to the Tumacacori National Historic Park, there is plenty to see. We’ll learn of the cultural clashes between Spanish settlers and local Apaches, and see the beautiful remnants of the old, failed mission. Continuing southward we head to the border town of Nogales with its laid-back atmosphere and plenty of sights and shopping, and we’ll walk across the border for dinner. We’ll return to Tucson via an alternate route which will include a ride through Saguaro National Park. From the lush green grasslands to the sea of sand and desert, from cosmopolitan Tucson to honky-tonk Nogales, our Cycling Arizona tour offers plenty of variety, great rides and a chance to experience the Southwest like no other tour.

Most of our riders have found that road bikes (with drop-down handlebars, narrower seats and thinner tires) are most suitable for this trip. Therefore, if you rent bikes through us, these are the bikes we will rent for you. If you prefer a hybrid or other kind of bike, we will try to rent one in Tucson, but we cannot guarantee the availability of any particular type of bike.

Amazing creatures, mystery, and beautiful seascapes create this unique corner of the world. Seemingly hidden from man for centuries, this series of islands remains relatively untouched. 600 miles off the west coast of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands offer an unusual microscopic view of nature and natural selection in a nearly pristine state.

Charles Darwin, observed the potential scientific bonanza of the islands’ flora and fauna in 1835 and was inspired to write his famous thesis, “On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection.” Aside from a few roving pirates and buccaneers, the islands remain untouched by man.

Our naturalist guide will fill us in on the extraordinary variety of plants and wildlife as we will visit and explore various islands. A birdwatchers paradise, there are 29 species of land bird found here and 22 of them are endemic to the islands. See the world’s smallest penguins, the bright red-chested frigate birds, the flightless cormorants, boobies, hawks, owls and lava gulls. In the sea, you’ll experience the wonder of watching giant sea turtles swimming to their homes, and sea lions playfully splashing as you snorkel along looking at multitudes of colorful fish. All this from the comfort of a modern and well appointed ship.

Here’s the perfect introduction to biking in Europe. Many gay and lesbian cyclists couldn’t think of anything better than a week on a bicycle. But those with less experience may prefer to start with a shorter trip. This 5-day tour, which combines nicely with a few nights in Paris, is the perfect solution.

We begin on le Loir, a quiet river that weaves amongst French villages untouched by time. Bike along pastoral roads to tiny Troo, where townsfolk live in hobbit-style caves. Visit the crumbling castle ruins high above picturesque Vendome. Explore the historic castle and colorful gardens of Chateaudun, all the more charming because it is off the usual tourist beat.

Then, we cross to the larger Loire river, ending at the region’s most famous creation: Chateau Chambord, so enormous that the French king Francois I nearly bankrupted himself having it built. By the time you finish, this five-day trip will seem too short. That’s okay: We have longer tours to select from for your next vacation.
