I attended San Francisco’s gay pride - 40 and Fabulous yesterday along Market Street.
It was impressive to see KOFY TV broadcasting live with Donna Sachet as the host. The edited taping was featured on channel 13 from 8pm - 12 midnight later that evening.
Of course, there were a few problems along the way. Donna Sachet provided fantastic commentary throughout. However, she had to look off to her right side to know who was coming. The co-stars would continue to address Ms. Sachet and her back was continually turned to them. Also, reporter - Steve Kunz’s mic continually went out. At one point he stated, “I’m working really hard to get the audio back.” He realized the microphone was switch off at the bottom.
RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, Tyra Sanchez looked stunningly beautiful. However, she stood on top of a three level platform and didn’t wave to anyone. I rewatched the broadcast and witnessed the same thing. Girl, at least put on a happy face.
It was a thrill to see the Backstreet Boys in the parade. Brian Littrell was filming the crowd throughout. They were waving and smile at the larger than life crowd. Nick Carter stated in his interview that they were already in town for a performance at the Warfield. Why not - do the Pride also? AJ Mclean’s interview was better talking about how many gay friends he has and how important this day is.
*Interesting facts - I performed a dance routine with 4 others at a house party in San Francisco. The song - The Backstreet Boys.
*Donna Sachet is the only drag queen to perform the national anthem at a major league baseball park.
