San Franciso is known as the City by the Bay, and is surrounded on three sides by
water. If you have the opportunity during your visit, get out onto the water and see the
city from the outside looking in.
There are several ways to experience the bay. The most popular attraction in the
city is Alcatraz, and you get a short ferry ride as part of your visit out to the island.
Another option is to take the ferry to Sausalito or Tiburon for lunch and then return in the
evening right as the sun is setting. This makes for an exciting day trip, as well as great
photo opportunities on the return trip.
You could also rent a bike at one of the numerous bike rental places, and bike
across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. You can then take a break, eat some lunch
and catch the ferry back across the bay!
