"Other than the beauty of the natural attractions of Nicaragua, such as the Mombacho Volcano or the Lake Nicaragua, I have to say that one of my favorites was to visit the town of Granada, Nicaragua. Known as one of the oldest cities in America, this petite colonial town stands out to me as a must visit destination in Central America. How would I best define it, well maybe as a small version of Cusco, Peru.

Located 2 hours and 30 minutes from Guacalito de la Isla, where the MUKUL Resort is located, and/or 1 hour from Managua and the International Airport. An estimated population of 110,326, it has a rich colonial heritage, seen in its architecture and structure. Founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, alledgedly the first European city in mainland America. Unlike other cities that claim the same distinction, the city of Granada was not only the settlement of the conquest, but also a city registered in official records of the Crown of Aragon, and the Kingdom of Castile in Spain. Nearby attractions are the Mombacho Volcano, the Lake Nicaragua, among many others. But a day visit or even an overnight stay in Granada would be highly recommended, if you happen to visit Nicaragua."
