The death toll from last week’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan is expected to exceed 10,000 people.  Thousands of first responders, soldiers and police are aiding survivors in the disaster zone.

For anyone looking to help, there are several organizations sending relief to the areas hardest hit.

The American Red Cross is offering assistance to the Japanese Red Cross and is accepting donations via their website or by texting “RED CROSS” to 90999.

Follow @RedCross on Twitter and Facebook posts to stay up to date on the relief efforts.

The Rainbow World Fund is also a great resource. To make a donation to help the survivors specify "Japan" when donating either online at rainbowfund.org/donate or by checks sent to Rainbow World Fund, 4111 - 18th Street, Suite 5, San Francisco, CA 94114.

You can go to the Global Giving site and make a donation to help victims and aid emergency services.  They’re working with International Medical Corps, Save the Children and other organizations.
