For the first time ever, the U.S. is putting together an advertising campaign to promote travel geared toward international tourists. This series of commercials is groundbreaking not only because it is the first one ever promote the U.S. to world travelers, but also because it features a gay couple as well as heterosexual ones. Developed by Washington, D.C. based company called Brand USA, the commercials were launched on Wednesday in the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada, with a budget of $12.3 million for the first three months. A second wave will follow in Brazil and South Korea, with various other markets to follow. The commercials are part of a larger media strategy to reach potential visitors. While countries around the world have prioritized tourism efforts for years, the United States has never before had a nationally coordinated effort to invite travelers to come visit. We highly approve of the push for travel to the U.S.- as well as the inclusion of the LGBT community!
