Whoever said you can't find the comfort of a home in a hotel has never stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Club, Aspen, CO. Having stayed there for four days while in a competition, the Ritz-Carlton Club, and their staff, quickly proved they offer all the right amenities and services to make any traveler feel like they're right in their own home.

We chose to stay at The Club because of the two and three bedroom Residences the destination club offers. With a group of six adults, all looking for their own rooms, The Club was built to easily accommodate large groups and families. Splitting our group up into two Residences, we quickly settled in and were all surprised at how each room felt like the master suite.

Each Residence, designed to provide the comfort and convenience of every day living, had amenities like an in-suite washer/dryer, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, walk-in closets, and master bathrooms with heated marble floors. Having been living out of our suitcase in other hotels, these are the features that finally allowed us to break out of the "suitcase living" and get comfortable.

Set up with flat screen TVs, with surround sound entertainment centers, natural stone fireplaces, and a dining room table for eight, we often found ourselves hanging out in the living room listening to music or posted up next to the fireplace working on our laptops when we weren't competing. Although we were out around town most of the day, these features were essential for everyone hanging out when we were back in the Residence relaxing. In other hotels, we were all divided into different rooms and wouldn't interact as much as we did at The Club.

Being my first time in Aspen, and knowing nothing about the city, the staff and concierge at The Club quickly became good friends. To be quite honest, I'm still uncertain who was the concierge. Every person I approached at the Ritz-Carlton Club took care of our needs and answered our questions.  Whether it was a last-minute ride to town or arrangements to get to the top of Aspen Highlands, the staff was there to assist.

One of the features that made The Club enjoyable was the daily events and parties. For apres ski, they would have live music and different appetizers/drinks in the lobby by the fireplace. It was a great way to meet some of the other guest that were staying on the property. If you're at The Club for an extended period, it's always nice to meet and see a few familiar faces every day.

The most memorable moment I had at The Club came on the night I won the event for which I was in Aspen to compete. Throughout my entire stay I felt The Ritz-Carlton Club staff were there to support and provide me with the resources I needed to enjoy my visit, but also succeed in the competition.

With the staff being there for me every step of the way, they were as just excited in my success as I was. From the curious questions and congratulations on the shuttle ride home to the champagne that was delivered with a card signed by all the staff, they even took me out on the balcony and taught me how to saber my first bottle of champagne.

The first view I had when walking into The Ritz-Carlton Club, Aspen Highlands was the heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi at the foot of the 12,500 ft. mountain. With the water steaming, I just stood by the pool and looked out at the breathtaking views of the mountain. While The Club itself was calm and relaxing, I couldn't help but notice all the activity in the village.

Being part of ski-in/ski-out village, everything you need to enjoy yourself in the Aspen Highlands is right in your "backyard." From sports to art shops, and plenty of dining, the Village outside of the resort is a great addition to all the amenities the Ritz-Carlton Club already offers.

When I travel, I like to stay on a pretty normal workout and eating routine. Between the fitness center, Willow Creek Bistro, and room service, The Club had plenty of options to keep your body fueled and feeling good. My one suggestion, if you try just one thing, is the lobster macaroni and cheese. Definitely a caloric treat, but well worth it.

Whether you're staying there for a weekend or a month, The Ritz-Carlton Club, Aspen Highlands is a great place to call your home away from home. The resort is designed so all you have to do is unpack and the staff will take care of the rest. Once you're there, you'll quickly adjust and start enjoying the uncompromising lifestyle that The Ritz-Carlton is known for.
