With millions of international travelers roaming the world, see which LGBT friendly cities in the world were the most visited. This list comes from a report on 2014 International Airport Arrivals worldwide. Several cities have been omitted from this list due to their unfriendly attitudes or lack of legal protections for LGBT citizens and travelers. This list reflects the cities with the top number of international arrivals in 2014 who welcome LGBT travelers, have legal protections for citizens or due not prosecute any person based on sexual orientation, and have strong gay scenes and attractions. 

#10 Miami, 6.3 Million International Arrivals 

Gay Miami is the “Gay Riviera” of the United States East Coast.  Enjoy a margarita and soak up the sun at Miami’s gay beach near Ocean Drive.  When night falls, dance the night away at one of the city’s amazing gay and lesbian nightclubs.

 

#9 Phuket, Thailand -8 Million International Arrivals 

The Gay traveler will feel right at home in Phuket. Legal in Thailand, gays are welcomed and respected. The prejudice found elsewhere in the world simply doesn't exist. 10 years ago Rome would not be included on this list but in recent years the city has been more progressive and attitudes towards LGBT cistizens and travelers has improved greatly. #7 Istanbul, Turkey -11.1 Million International Arrivals

Gay life in Istanbul has become more and more visible during the last 20 years. The number of the gay venues has increased rapidly especially during the last 15 years. Taksim district of Beyoglu town on the European side of Istanbul is the center of almost all major gay venues. It is inTaksim district where gay travelers will find the center of local night life. There are many modern or traditional gay clubs, bars, saunas and hamams near the Taksim/Beyoglu area. There are also many clubs for transvestites and transsexuals in Taksim district. Indeed, the gay life of Istanbul is very colorful and vibrant. The first gay and lesbian organization of Turkey called Lambda Istanbul is also located in Istanbul.

#6 NYC, 11.9 Million International Arrivals

Ah, The Big Apple, truly a Gay Travel favorite. Gay New York is home to millions of people, the hustle and bustle of the big city life is truly exhilarating. On every street and at every intersection you’ll find people zooming here and there with a strong sense of purpose.
