Event Date: Jun 10, 2018 - Jun 10, 2018

We are ONE month away from Sacramento Pride! Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 10. This year, we aren't just celebrating. Pride commemorates the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, when our diverse community fought back in the face of oppression to ignite the modern day LGBTQ movement for equality and justice.

"One day of Pride each year is not enough... We believe more opportunities for visibility, advocacy, and community building, leading up to Pride and throughout the year, will help create a Sacramento region where LGBTQ people are not only safe and welcome, but able to thrive." - David Heitstuman, Executive Director

Please join us for a weekend of Pride events because "One day is not enough" and celebrate the progress we’ve made toward LGBTQ equality and advocate for the many in our community who still face discrimination, violence, and oppression.  Check out the schedule of community events and get your tickets for the Pride Festival today.

Help lift up and recognize everyday heroes who make a difference in the fight for equality and justice! Nominate someone you know to be a Community Pride Award Recipient or Sacramento Pride Grand Marshal.  Deadline for nominations is May 20!

Kick off Pride weekend with the Pride Awards gala! Mark your calendars for Pride Awards on Friday, June 8. Doors open 5:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. at the Unity Center at the CA Museum, 1020 O Street. More than thirty years ago, bold visionaries created a haven where LGBTQ people could build community and lead fulfilling lives at the Sacramento LGBT Community Center. In honor of their work, the Pride Awards gala annually recognizes individuals and organizations who help further create a region where LGBTQ people thrive. Find out more and buy your tickets here!

Continue Pride weekend with Pride Activated on Saturday, June 9. We are proud to announce our first ever Pride Activated! Pride didn’t start out as a celebration, it began with a revolution.  The patrons of The Stonewall Inn in 1969, led by transgender women of color and drag queens, tired of harassment, discrimination, police raids and beatings, rioted for days in one of the first organized displays of protest in the modern LGBTQ rights era. Join us for a free event, Saturday, June 9, 12 p.m. at Mango’s, 1930 K Street, to help elevate and activate the voices of youth and our most marginalized community members. Bring your family and friends to learn more about LGBTQ culture, listen to speakers, make posters for the Pride parade march, and watch films about our movement’s history and the work that lies ahead.

This year we are going big. Plan for a weekend of activation and celebration... and get your bounce on with Big Freedia! Big Freedia is a Queer, Black, American musical artist from New Orleans and best known for the hip hop genre and newfound "bounce" music. Big Freedia has been credited with helping popularize bounce music, which was largely underground since developing in the early 1990s. Big Freedia stars in the hit telvesion series, "Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce" and has worked with RuPaul and Beyonce in the last few years. Welcome Big Freedia to Sacramento this Sunday, June 10!
