Gay Beaver Creek

Colorado’s Vail Valley offers a cluster of popular gay friendly ski resort towns, from Vail itself to Avon, Eagle, Edwards and Beaver Creek. Beaver Creek, in the heart of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, is skiing central. There are 149 ski trails and 17 lifts – a total of 1,800 acres of great skiing. There’s also a good selection of skiing courses, no matter your skill level. Terrain is 19 percent beginner, 43 percent intermediate and 38 percent advanced.

If you’re in town in the summer, check out the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, an annual summer classical music festival hosted in Beaver Creek. The event has three resident orchestras: the Rochester Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. The 23rd season begins June 25, 2010 with a recital by Yo-Yo Ma.

The centerpiece of this small hamlet is Beaver Creek Resort, a complex nestled in the mountains that goes by the saying, “Not exactly roughing it.” There are plenty of gay friendly hotels in and around this vibrant skiing area.
