Koh Samui Gay Scene

Following in the Thai tradition of rather fluid sexuality, Koh Samui isn’t any different in its openness and acceptance of everyone. Locals and visitors of all backgrounds intermingle, frequenting the same bars and clubs and attending the same beach side parties. The gay scene here is more laid back than in Phuket, and offers an incredible combination of vibrant nightlife, epic parties, and gorgeous relaxing days at the beach.

Gay-Friendly Dining

Nearly every restaurant dishes one of two food options: Southern Thai specialties or western favorites. Coconuts are widely available and shockingly refreshing in the middle of a Southeast Asian Summer. Seafood is especially popular because it is local and delectable. Salted Eggs is a local favorite and simply has to be done. Be careful because Thai food can get addicting!

Zazen

This beautiful beachside restaurant at Zazen Boutique Resort overlooks BoPhut Beach and features an interior that combines aspects of French and Moroccan cuisine.

Secret Garden

The beachfront Secret Garden serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, specializing in authentic Thai and Mediterranean cuisine. The bar is a nice meeting spot for both locals and tourists!

Namu

Billed as futuristic Asian food, the modern but intimate Namu restaurant overlooking the beach specializes in contemporary Japanese cuisine.

Gay-Friendly Nightlife

Club Green Mango

It is the beating heart of the island’s nightlife, home to cheap drinks, loud music and good times

Sweet Soul Cafe

You will be sure to find LGBT locals looking to hang out at this fun dance bar. Enjoy a cheap "sand bucket" filled with a liquor of your choice while you're at it!

Pride Bar Samui

Modern gay lounge and bar featuring great music and a wide choice of cocktails, beers, wines and coffee.

K-Club Bar

Gay host bar on Koh Samui, located on the same street as the other gay venues near the Chaweng Stadium.
