Gay Skiathos Island

Skiathos, Greece is characterized by its dense vegetation, endless beaches with clear aquamarine waters, and cosmopolitan lifestyle.

Skiathos is easily accessible from mainland Greece via flight connections from Athens as well as a regular boat schedule during the Summer months from Volos and Agios Konstantinos. There are flights from many cities from throughout Europe and is a very popular destination for many Europeans. The hot-pot of cultures and nationalities has created a fascinating cosmopolitan atmosphere offering unforgettable moments. Skiathos makes up the cluster of islands known as the Sporades and is a natural continuity of the rugged terrain of the Pilion range. Skiathos boasts of more than 60 beaches, many accessible by road, but many more accessible only by sea. The most famous beach is the award-winning Koukounaries and of course Lalaria, the “symbol” of Skiathos.

The Greek island of Skiathos is very popular and can get really crowded during Summer by people attracted by the wonderfully long and golden sandy beaches of the island which are boarded by trees and have crystal-clear waters. It is one of the most well-organized Greek Islands and has all the tourist facilities needed. The island's capital and main harbor, Skiathos, presents a gay and colorful picture, with its bright white houses with tiled roofs, narrow streets, flower-filled courtyards, and balconies, not to mention its churches.

Skiathos’ most famous son, Alexandros Papadiamantis wrote many of his most famous pieces in Skiathos, and the majority of which are based in Skiathos. Skiathos also boasts a rich cultural history, often shown through it’d traditional architecture, Byzantine churches, monasteries, museums, monuments and much much more.

In 2007, Skiathos once again was used as a backdrop in the arts during the filming on the hit musical Mamma Mia. The movie helped rekindle the international interest of the natural beauty and the modern services of the island.

Skiathos Gay Scene

Skiathos is one of the top gay destinations in Greece and is trying to become the most popular gay resort in the whole world. There are numerous gay-friendly hotels and clubs on the island. Gay and lesbian people feel free to express themselves and their choices. They have a problem neither with the locals nor with other visitors to the island.  During the summer of  2012, the 1st Gay Culture festival took place with a great success.

The gods must have been smiling whenever they created Skiathos, gifting it with a dazzling great number of beaches vastly out of proportion with its modest size. The island’s sheltered turquoise waters and abundant stretches of golden sand attract a large number of tourists per year, taking advantage of the hot, dry summer weather and opportunities for sunbathing, watersports, socializing and all-round relaxation.
