What makes your city such a great LGBT destination?
Not only is Santa Cruz a beautiful beach town, but it is also a safe and LBGT friendly community. Santa Cruz is known for its openness and prides itself on individuals expressing who they are. Santa Cruz is also centrally located to entertaining cities such as San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel to just name a few! We also have a very thriving Diversity Center that is always available for any questions or recommendations.
What are some hotspots gay and lesbian travelers should check out when they are in the city?
This one is a bit tougher to answer due to there not being to many LGBT “Hotspots”. The reasoning? Santa Cruz is so welcoming of the LGBT community that there isn’t any need for Gay Bars, or hangouts. Even in the streets of Downtown Santa Cruz individuals of the LGBT community can comfortably walk the streets hand holding and showing affections. Of course there are always the fun clubs to hit up such as the Blue Lagoon, Motiv, & the Blue Lounge.
What are the top five reasons for gay travelers to visit?
Reason One: We are located in a beautiful ‘funky’ beachtown where the weather is nice and the sunsets are always beautiful!
Reason Two: Santa Cruz is a very LGBT friendly community and a open-minded culture that encourages everyone to be themselves.
