Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum
The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum is recognized around the world for its scientific research, educational programs, and extensive collections. We are the largest museum in the state and give voice to the stories of Hawai‘i and the Pacific. The Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in memory of his wife Bernice Pauahi Bishop, a royal descendant of King Kamehameha I.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a Hawaiian food plate-lunch or a snack in our open-air café. Bishop Museum Café by Highway Inn offers a limited menu of Hawaiian plates, poke bowls, sandwiches, and snacks from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily and is closed on New Year’s Day.
Bishop Museum is open 7 days a week and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Parking is $5 per car per day. The Museum is located only 6 miles from Waikiki and 1 mile from the airport. Bishop Museum has received Trip Advisor’s certificate of excellence award several years in a row.
