This morning I was notified by a friend who is an avid outdorsman and nature lover like myself, that a New York woman by the name of Casy Nocket has been leaving her mark on the west coast in the most deplorable of ways. Ms. Nocket has been making her rounds hiking at many of our national parks, enjoying her time in the outdoors so much that she decided to document her trip on Instagram. And apparently Nocket was so moved by all the natural beauty she saw that she just had to paint all over it.

Paint all over it again...and again...and again... yes, Ms. Nocet's "art" work can now be found at National Parks including: Yosemite National Park, Crater Lake National Park, Carrizo Plain National Monument, Canyonlands National Park, Sequoia Nationl Forest, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Joshua Tree National parks.

Of course when I first saw this I thought (hoped) she must be using chalk which of course would not be permanent.. Unfortunately that is not the case as a deeper look on Ms. Nockets Instagram showed that she is in fact using acrylic paint and knows what she's doing is bad. See in image below as Instagram user 'wordgebra' poses the question "Is that paint or chalk?" Ms. Nocket responds that it's acrylic and we are right there with you @wordgebra, sad face indeed :(

Casy Nockets Instagram account "Creepytings" was chenged to private when she began receiving neagtive attention for her actions. Here are some additonal images captured from her account before it was set to private.

This story is already beginning to make its rounds online and we hope to keep that momentum going. The most omportant thing we can do as travelers is respect the planet. From what we have found we do see that a National Park Ranger has begun an investigation into Ms. Nockets vandalism. She has agined a lot of attention from this but we hope that the message people receive is that acts like this should not be celebrated.

Perhaps we can get this image to make its rounds: "Don't be a #CASEYNOCKET" Really guys.....don't be a Casey Nocket.. lets keep the world beautiful, we've done enough damage to the planet. Future geerations deserve to see this world in all its natural glory.
